    Our Committee…

The members of the ANP Committee, as elected at the AGM in November 2020, are:

    Karen Pritchard

    Karen Pritchard (Committee Member)

A member of ANP since 2012 I have been an ENT for over 20 years, initially at the University of Bristol but now entirely freelance with a 50/50 split between higher education and business. My background is as a Legal Secretary and then 15 years as Cabin Crew with BA and now Electronic Notetaking/Live Captioning. I love the variety of this profession and the satisfaction of providing valuable communication support. I am keen to raise our profile within the D/deaf and hard of hearing community and will work hard to ensure that our impressive range of skills are recognised and valued.

    Laura Carlisle-Goldthorpe (Committee Member)

Having worked in administration for 20 years most notably at City Lit in the Deaf Education department I was in 2005 presented with an opportunity to go on an Electronic Notetaking course. Having qualified as a notetaker I continued at City Lit working as both administrator and notetaker and also taught on the City Lit Electronic Notetaking course.

Since leaving in 2009 to become a freelance notetaker whilst enjoying the autonomy of being self employed I’ve relished the connection with other notetakers especially the opportunities for co-working and the ANP AGM.

I am keen to support members with training opportunities and passionate that the role gets the recognition and standards it deserves.

    Louisa McDaid

    Louisa McDaid (Committee Member)

I have been a self-employed Electronic Notetaker since qualifying through RNID in 2004. Initially serving as ANP’s inaugural vice chair from 2006 to 2008, I later took on the role of information officer for both ANP and the Association of Lipspeakers (ALS). In 2007, I qualified as Scotland’s first Stagetext trained theatre captioner and later as a level 3 lipspeaker in 2012. I have been registered with NRCPD since 2008 and passed level 6 BSL in 2017. I have an especial interest in providing live captioning in situations where captioner users have historically been neglected – such as music festivals, live performances, and outdoor events.

Having worked all over the UK and internationally over the years, the rise of remote captioning since Covid has meant a huge transition in our working practices and I am keen to see how these technological changes can further be leveraged to serve our client groups.
